Latest Town Council Actions

At their July 8, 2010 Town Council Meeting, the Board of Commissioners took action on the following items:

  • Approved the job description for a Senior Water Technician position in the Town of Montreat Police Department and appointed Barry Creasman to serve in this capacity effective July 12, 2010.
  • Called for a Public Hearing on August 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible to discuss proposed revisions to Montreat General Ordinance Chapter I, Article II “Noise Control."  [Proposed Text]
  • Called for a Public Hearing on August 12, 2010 at 7:10 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible to discuss proposed revisions to Montreat General Ordinance Chapter I, Article V “Firearms."  [Proposed Text]

The Board also held a Public Hearing on proposed revisions to Montreat General Ordinance Chapter J, Article II "Condemnation."  No action was taken at that time, and this item will be reviewed further at the August 12 Town Council Meeting.  Given the large amount of public interest in these revisions, the text presented at the July 8 Public Hearing may be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Black text: Existing ordinance text proposed to remain unchanged
Red, strike through text:  Existing text proposed for deletion
Blue, underlined text: Text proposed for addition as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission
Yellow-highlighted blue text: Text proposed for addition that has been revised by Town staff and differs from the Planning and Zoning Commission's original recommendation
