Government Overview
Montreat operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The Town Council consists of the Mayor and five Commissioners and appoints a Town Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Town. Elections for the Mayor and Commissioners are held each November as their four-year terms expire. The elections are non-partisan. The Council is assisted by a Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and several other advisory committees. |
